Amitav Acharya Distinguished Professor of International Relations, American University, Washington, D.C.

Amitav Acharya is a Distinguished Professor and UNESCO Chair in Transnational Challenges and Governance at American University in Washington, DC. He previously held academic positions at York University (Toronto), the University of Bristol (UK), and was a Fellow at Harvard University’s Asia Center and Kennedy School of Government, as well as a Christensen Fellow at Oxford University.

Acharya served as President of the International Studies Association (ISA), the world’s largest and most influential network for scholars of international affairs. He is the author of The Once and Future World Order: Why Global Civilization Will Survive the Decline of the West (Basic Books).

His writing has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, and Foreign Policy, among others. He is also a frequent commentator on international media outlets including BBC, CNN, CGTN, and Al Jazeera.
