Assoc. Prof. Başak Özarslan is an energy economist specializing in energy economics, critical minerals, energy transition, sustainability, and environmental economics. She is an Associate Professor at Istanbul Gelisim University and Director of the Sustainable Environment and Society Application and Research Center (SCTUAM).
Her research focuses on the economic and strategic dimensions of critical mineral supply chains, energy security, and the global clean energy transition. She has authored academic studies in energy and environmental economics and contributes to interdisciplinary and policy-oriented initiatives. She also takes part in national and international conferences, expert panels, and policy discussions on critical minerals, energy security, and sustainable development.
