Dr David Brewster is a leading Australian expert on security dynamics in the Indian Ocean region. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the National Security College.
Dr Brewster is the author of several influential books, including India as an Asia Pacific Power, which explores India’s strategic role in the Asia-Pacific, and India’s Ocean: The Story of India’s Bid for Regional Leadership, which examines India’s ambitions in the Indian Ocean. He has also edited volumes such as India and China at Sea: Competition for Naval Dominance in the Indian Ocean and Cross Currents: The New Geopolitics of the Indian Ocean.
He frequently collaborates on regional projects supported by the Australian government. His current work includes strategic assessments for countries in the Bay of Bengal and studies on regional maritime domain awareness (MDA) and information-sharing arrangements.
