Dr. Elizabeth R. Nugent ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, YALE UNIVERSITY

Dr. Elizabeth R. Nugent is an assistant professor of political science at Yale University. She is the author of After Repression: Identity and Polarization in Democratic Transitions, published by Princeton University Press (2020). Her research explores the political psychology of religion and repression in the Middle East, and has been published in the American Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Conflict Resolution, and World Politics. Dr. Nugent holds a doctorate in politics from Princeton University as well as a B.A. in Arabic and an M.A. in Arab Studies, both from Georgetown University. She was previously a postdoctoral research fellow with the Middle East Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
