Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool is a distinguished South African leader, educator, and global advocate for justice. A key figure in the anti-apartheid movement, he worked alongside Nelson Mandela during South Africa’s democratic transition. He went on to serve as Premier of the Western Cape and later as South Africa’s Ambassador to the United States under President Barack Obama.
Ambassador Rasool has held academic positions as Senior Fellow at Georgetown University and Rutgers University, and as Adjunct Professor at Nelson Mandela University. He holds honorary doctorates from Roosevelt University and Chatham University.
Through his World for All Foundation and as former Chair of the Development Bank of Southern Africa, he has championed inclusive and sustainable development. His principled opposition to supremacist policies continues to influence global dialogue on justice, equality, and human rights.
