Farid Hafez is an Associate Teaching Professor of International Relations at William & Mary. He previously served as the Distinguished Class of 1955 Visiting Professor of International Studies at Williams College (2021–2024) and was a Fulbright Professor at the University of California’s Center for Race and Gender in 2017. Since 2017, he has also been a non-resident Senior Researcher at Georgetown University’s Bridge Initiative.
An award-winning scholar, Hafez has published more than 150 academic works and co-edits the European Islamophobia Report. His most recent book, Politicizing Islam in Austria: The Far-Right Impact in the Twenty-First Century (co-authored with Reinhard Heinisch), was published by Rutgers University Press in 2024.
