Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs of the Republic of Turkey,
Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı is the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs of the Republic of Turkey assumed office on 7 August 2018. His previous missions abroad include Turkish Embassy in Tripoli (1997-99), NATO Senior Civilian Representative’s Office in Kabul (2004-05), Turkish Permanent Delegation to the EU in Brussels (1999-02, 2005-08 and 2017-18). He also served as the Consul General of Turkey in Basrah (2011-13), Ambassador of Turkey to Iraq (2013-17) and Permanent Representative of Turkey to the EU (2017-18).At the Foreign Ministry, he worked at the Directorate General (DG) for Balkan States (1994-95), DG International Economic Organizations (1995-97), DG Policy Planning (2002-03), DG European Union (2008-09) He also served as both the Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to Turkey’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator and the Director for EU Communication at the Ministry for EU Affairs (2009-11).
Ambassador Kaymakcı is a holder of NATO Medal for his service in Afghanistan and was selected one of the three Alumnus of the Year 2007 of the College of Europe.
