Faruk Kaymakcı DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKEY&DIRECTOR FOR EU AFFAIRS, AMBASSADOR

Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, assumed office on 7 August 2018. His previous missions abroad include Turkish Embassy in Tripoli (1997-99), NATO Senior Civilian Representative’s Office in Kabul (2004-05), and the Turkish Permanent Delegation to the EU in Brussels (1999-02, 2005-08 and 2017-18). He also served as the Consul General of Türkye in Basrah (2011-13), Ambassador of Türkiye to Iraq (2013-17) and Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the EU (2017-18). At the Foreign Ministry, he worked at the Directorate General (DG) for Balkan States (1994-95), DG International Economic Organisations (1995-97), DG Policy Planning (2002-03), DG European Union (2008-09) He also served as both the Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to Türkiye’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator and the Director for EU Communication at the Ministry for EU Affairs (2009-11).

Ambassador Kaymakcı is a holder of the NATO Medal for his service in Afghanistan and was selected as one of the College of Europe’s three Alumnus of the Year 2007.
