Karim Elgendy ASSOCIATE FELLOW, ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY PROGRAMME, CHATHAM HOUSE

Karim is an urban sustainability and climate consultant based in London. He is also an Associate Fellow at Chatham House and a Non-Resident Scholar at the Middle East Institute in Washington. He is the Founder and Coordinator of Carboun, an advocacy initiative promoting sustainability through research and communication in cities of the Middle East and North Africa.

Karim’s interests include urban sustainability and resilience, climate policy, and energy transition. His current work focuses on the Middle East and North Africa region, especially around the Eastern Mediterranean and the Gulf, but his two decades of experience also span Europe, North America, and sub-Saharan Africa.
