Majlinda Bregu took office as the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council on 1 January 2019.
She graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tirana and obtained a Master’s degree in Social and Political Science from the same university. In 2005 she was awarded PhD in Sociology from the University of Urbino, Italy.
In 1996, Mrs Bregu started her academic career as a lecturer while collaborating as an anchor in News Department at Albanian Public Television. She was a Member of the Parliament of Albania (2005-2017), Minister of European Integration, National IPA Coordinator and Government Spokesperson (2007-2013).
