Mehmet Mehdi Eker MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT; FORMER MINISTER OF FOOD, AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK AND MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, TURKEY

Mehmet Mehdi Eker is currently a Member of Parliament representing Diyarbakır and a former Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. Dr Eker is also the former AK Party Deputy Chairman for Foreign Affairs and Vice Deputy Chairman for Economic Affairs. He is a graduate of Ankara University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Aberdeen, where he completed his post graduate studies in agricultural economics. In 2012, in recognition of his activities in the fight against global famine, Dr Eker was honoured by the Government of France with the prestigious Order of Agricultural Merit. Dr Eker has contributed to published articles in a number of journals and authored two books on agriculture during his tenure as Minister.
