Morissanda Kouyaté Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, African Integration and Guineans, Republic of Guinea

Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté is the current Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Guineans Abroad for the Republic of Guinea and a globally recognized advocate for human rights and public health. A medical doctor specialized in reproductive health and health services management, he has dedicated over four decades to advancing the wellbeing of women and children across Africa.

Dr. Kouyaté is a 2020 Laureate of the United Nations Nelson Mandela Prize, awarded for his lifelong commitment to fighting harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage. He served as Executive Director of the Inter-African Committee on Traditional Practices, coordinating international efforts with the UN, African Union, and civil society organizations.

His academic background includes medical training at the University of Conakry, and advanced studies at Johns Hopkins University and Clark Atlanta University in the United States. Dr. Kouyaté has authored numerous publications and training manuals on health management and gender-based violence.

A respected global speaker and policy advisor, he is also credited with initiating the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM and co-authoring the UN Resolution banning FGM worldwide. Dr. Kouyaté continues to champion social justice, diplomacy, and sustainable development.
