Sir Nicholas Kay is a retired British diplomat with over 30 years of experience navigating complex political environments. He specializes in multilateral diplomacy, peace processes, and peacebuilding. His senior roles have included COP26 Regional Ambassador to Sub-Saharan Africa, NATO Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan, UK Ambassador to Afghanistan, UK Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, and UN Special Representative for Somalia. He has also served as Ambassador to Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Fluent in Spanish and French, Sir Nicholas holds degrees in Applied Linguistics and English Language & Literature. He currently serves as Senior Adviser to the CMI Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, with a focus on Sudan.
