Dr. Pavel K. Baev is a Research Professor at the Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO). He is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow Fellow at the Center for the United States and Europe (CUSE) at the Brookings Institution, Washington DC; a Senior Associate Researcher at the Institut Francais des Relations Internationales (IFRI), Paris; and a Senior Associate Research Fellow at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI, Milan). His weekly column appears in Eurasia Daily Monitor.
He graduated from Moscow State University (MGU) in September 1974 and has a PhD from the USSR Academy of Sciences in International Relations. His research areas include Russian military reform, Russia’s conflict management in the Caucasus and Central Asia, energy interests in Russia’s foreign and security policy, and Russia’s relations with Europe and NATO.
