Sami A. Al-Arian​ DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER FOR ISLAM AND GLOBAL AFFAIRS (CIGA), ISTANBUL SABAHATTIN ZAIM UNIVERSITY

Dr Sami A. Al-Arian is the Director of the Centre for Islam and Global Affairs (CIGA) and a Public Affairs Professor at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. He received his PhD in Computer Engineering in 1986, and was a tenured academic in the US for two decades. Dr al-Arian has been a regular speaker on US university campuses on the subjects of Palestine, Islam and the West, and civil rights. In 2001, he was named by Newsweek magazine as the “premier civil rights activist” for his efforts to repeal the use of secret evidence in immigration courts. Dr Al-Arian has written several studies and numerous articles focusing on US foreign policy, Palestine, and the Arab Spring.
