Selim Yenel FIRST DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL OF BSEC; FORMER UNDERSECRETARY OF THE MINISTRY FOR EU AFFAIRS, TURKEY

Selim Yenel was born in Istanbul in 1956 and joined the MFA in 1979. He was posted at the Turkish Delegation to the OECD, Paris, the Turkish Embassy in Kabul, and to the Turkish Delegation to the UN in New York. Between 1994 and 1999 he was at the Turkish Delegation to the EU. Between 1999 and 2005, Selim Yenel dealt with the EU from Ankara. In 2005, he became the Ambassador to Austria, and between 2009 and 2011 he was Deputy Undersecretary. He was the Turkish Ambassador to the EU from 2011 to 2017, and he was the Undersecretary of the Ministry for EU Affairs between 2017 and 2018. In 2019, Selim Yenel became the First Deputy Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).
