Sultan Raev was unanimously elected Secretary General of TURKSOY at the Extraordinary Meeting of its Permanent Council held in March 31, 2022.
A graduate of the Faculty of Journalism at Kyrgyz State University, Mr. Raev has held numerous senior positions in government and culture, including Chief Editor of various newspapers, Deputy Minister of Education and Culture, Chairman of the UNESCO National Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic, Advisor to the President, and Minister of Culture and Information of the Kyrgyz Republic. Prior to his election as Secretary General, he served as Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States.
In addition to his distinguished public service, Mr. Raev is recognized as one of Kyrgyzstan’s most prominent authors. His works have been staged in theaters across several countries and adapted into films for television and cinema.
A recipient of multiple national and international awards, Mr. Raev holds the honorary title of People’s Author of the Kyrgyz Republic in recognition of his contributions to cultural dialogue and international cooperation.
