Valeriy Morkva is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at Cappadocia University, Türkiye. He earned his Ph.D. in 2010 from Bilkent University and has since taught at several Turkish universities over the past 15 years.
Dr. Morkva’s research focuses on Ottoman-Turkish history, Russian colonialism, and Eurasian geopolitics. He has published extensively on Ottoman-Russian relations, Russian imperial and Soviet policies in Ukraine, and the ongoing war against Ukraine. His recent scholarship examines Ukraine’s struggle for independence, the enduring legacy of Russification, and broader geopolitical dynamics in the Black Sea region.
